Our client is a biotech accelerator running a dynamic biomedical innovation hub in Brisbane. The facility has been purposefully designed to foster collaboration among scientists, startups, investors, and industry leaders. Their goal is to accelerate health innovation by providing co-working laboratory spaces, infrastructure, and commercialisation support for emerging life science ventures.
Responsibilities
* Own the day‐to‐day operation of the laboratory, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant functioning through oversight of SOPs, safety systems, audits, vendors, maintenance, and regulatory alignment with internal and external stakeholders.
* Support occupancy and revenue targets by conducting lab tours, converting enquiries into members, leading onboarding, and delivering a high‐quality, service‐driven experience that supports member success and retention.
* Maintain and administer all laboratory compliance documentation, including safety SOPs, chemical registers, MSDS, licensing, and audit materials, coordinating closely with regulatory bodies and partner institutions where required.
* Provide daily supervision and task allocation for lab technicians and support staff, contributing to performance reviews, capability development, and a strong on‐site operating culture.
* Manage lab‐related purchasing, invoicing, billing, and vendor relationships, supporting budgeting, capex/opex planning, and accurate financial reporting in collaboration with finance teams.
* Help foster a vibrant lab community by coordinating events, supporting marketing and social media activity, and representing the organisation at local industry and ecosystem events.
Qualifications
* Demonstrated working knowledge of laboratory safety, compliance, asset management, and regulated environments, with the ability to operate confidently in BSL‐2 or similar lab settings.
* Graduate diploma or degree in a science‐related discipline or facilities management, providing the technical foundation for managing laboratory infrastructure and safety systems.
* Minimum of four years' experience in laboratory operations or related operational roles, with practical exposure to day‐to‐day lab management and coordination.
* Proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including members, regulators, vendors, and partners.
* A hands‐on, self‐starting approach with strong attention to detail, capable of identifying issues early and driving practical solutions in a live lab environment.
* Passion for lab excellence and innovation communities, with the adaptability and confidence to perform in fast‐paced, startup‐style environments and represent the organisation externally when required.
