We are seeking a passionate and skilled Head Barista (Cafe Supervisor) to join our vibrant team. If you love coffee, enjoy interacting with people, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
As a Head Barista (Cafe Supervisor) you’ll have the chance to craft beautiful, high-quality coffee drinks and provide an exceptional customer experience.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
* 1-2 years of previous lead/head barista experience in a café or coffee shop setting preferred
* Strong understanding of different coffee beans, espresso blends, and brewing methods (e.g., French press, pour-over, cold brew)
* Knowledge of drink recipes, including espresso-based beverages (lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos), as well as non-espresso drinks (tea, juices, smoothies)
* Precision in measuring coffee grounds, adjusting grind size, steaming milk to the correct texture, and ensuring drink quality and consistency
* Attention to presentation, ensuring drinks are visually appealing and served at the appropriate temperature
* Efficiently managing time, especially during peak hours, while staying organised and calm under pressure
* Ability to quickly adapt to changes in orders, customer preferences, or unexpected situations
* Strong customer service skills and the ability to engage with customers in a warm, friendly manner
* Ability to create new drink offerings or put a creative spin on classic coffee drinks, such as latte art or seasonal specials
* Openness to experimenting with new flavors and techniques to enhance the overall coffee experience
* Formal training in barista skills or coffee-making techniques is a plus, though not essential
* Experience using POS systems for processing orders and payments, stock control and inventory, staff roster and manage the daily operations of the cafe
* Familiarity with food safety regulations and procedures to ensure a clean and safe work environment

Location and Operations Hours: Sagas Café at Olderfleet Building - 477 Collins St, Melbourne
* Monday - Friday, 7am – 4pm (operating hours may change due to events or members requirements)
* Closed on weekends and Public Holidays
Reporting to: F&B Operations Manager
Start Date : Immediate
