The Role
At Wanless we are continuing to grow our waste management business by assisting regional Councils with their endeavours to improve environmental and operational processes. To achieve this, we are looking for skilled staff who are looking for the opportunity to be part of our success. Currently we require Plant Operators at the Landfill and Resource Recovery Facility operations in Bowen.
What you will be doing
The Landfill Operator is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the landfill and RRA.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Operate and maintain waste management equipment and machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
* Daily inspection and maintenance of plant and equipment used for the processing of waste and recyclables.
* Ensure all waste is properly processed, sorted, and disposed of according to site-based management and environmental plans.
* Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the waste management site, including maintenance of landfill cells and storm water collection.
* Assist with the implementation of new waste management strategies and initiatives.
* Team player who can work unsupervised.
* Liaise and communicate with weighbridge staff to ensure effective management of the operations.
* Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
About You

* Relevant experience in waste management operations or a similar civil operational role.
* Strong mechanical and technical skills, with the ability to operate various waste management equipment.
* A keen eye for detail and the ability to work efficiently in a small team environment.
* A commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.
* Relevant certifications or licenses. (HR License, Excavator, Loader and or Compactor)
* Basic ability to use Smart Phones for online reporting & recording apps.
* Have a drivers licence and reliable transport
* Able to pass a medical and regular random Drug & Alcohol testing
