Role and location
We are seeking individuals with professional backgrounds in Psychology, Rehabilitation Counselling, Nursing or Social Work interested in working in the Occupational Rehabilitation sector in Newcastle NSW. Full-time and part-time (3-4 days per week) opportunities are available. You will manage your own day with the support of a strong team and the backing of a global corporate infrastructure. You will provide occupational rehabilitation services to clients with physical and/or psychological conditions, supporting them to achieve return-to-health and return-to-work outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Case management with support from Rehabilitation Assistants to alleviate administrative tasks
- Apply clinical knowledge to improve return-to-work outcomes
- Develop and implement injury prevention and workplace education programs with employers and employees
- Collaborate with injured workers, employers, medical and other health professionals
- Work across schemes such as workers compensation, compulsory third party, life insurance, Comcare, Department of Veteran's Affairs, and employer-funded programs
- Assist clients to achieve return-to-health and return-to-work outcomes
- Complete assessments using clinical skills (e.g., initial, ADL, workplace and vocational assessments) to review diagnosis, support treatment plans, address psychosocial barriers, and identify suitable employment opportunities
Qualifications and requirements
- Previous experience in Occupational Rehabilitation is highly regarded
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Health Sciences or Rehabilitation Counselling, Nursing or Social Work
- General or Provisional registration with AHPRA, or eligibility for ASORC or AASW
- Excellent communication skills, empathy and time management
- Current NSW Driver’s License with access to own car and comprehensive insurance
