Whatis our Dentist in Charge role?

The Dentistin Charge directs and oversees the operations of the dental clinicand School Dental Service in the Kalgoorlie area. As well asmanaging staff and maintaining equipment, you will also provideroutine and advanced clinical treatment to enrolled patients. Youwill also develop epidemiological data for the clinical area andinitiate relevant community dental care programs aimed at improvingdental health in the community by liaison with dentists, serviceorganisations, education and local authorities and relevantcommunity groups.

Attractionand Retention Incentive (ARI)

DHS is partof the North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) and is the largestpublic dental health services provider in WA, operating state-widefrom a network of fixed and mobile clinics, funded by the WAGovernment. DHS provides the School Dental Service for childrenaged 5-16 years, General Dental Services to eligible adults with acurrent health care card or pension concession card, SubsidySchemes and Special Dental Services.

Eligibilityto Apply: Australian citizenship or permanent residency isan essential requirement for applicants to be considered forpermanent positions in the public sector. To be eligible for afixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of yourentitlement to live and work in Australia for the period of thecontract.

WA Healthengages staff in positions of trust and responsibility. WA Healthpolicies require applicants to undertake a criminal recordsscreening and integrity checking as part of the appointmentprocess. As well as undertaking a criminal record screening andintegrity checking, you may also be required to undertake a workingwith children check (if required for the role) and a pre-employmenthealth assessment. We may ask referees to comment on your integrityand past demonstration of ethical behaviour. Please note thatadverse information does not necessarily disqualify an applicantbut will be considered as part of the appointmentprocess.

Whilst thisselection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy,it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughoutthe health service. In addition to this, should the successfulapplicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the nextmost suitable applicant may also be selected from this process.Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12)months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitmentdecision.

Progression:An employee may be eligible to progress from Level 1 Dentist– Year 6 to Level 2 Dentist – Year 1 and from Level 2Dentist – Year 3 to Level 3 Dentist. All progression isdependent on dental officers meeting the prescribed characteristicsand other features, which includes where appropriate, meetingclinical output. Progression is available to both full time andpart time dental officers.
