About This Role

Join Victoria's Youth Justice Precinct at Parkville. Provide technical and application support for the Youth Justice education platform. Lead and undertake compliance and assurance assessments against Victorian Government ICT policy, information security standards, privacy obligations and internal DJCS frameworks.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Justice) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focusing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime. Youth Justice is committed to the VPS values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights. Youth justice custodial centres accommodate young people aged 12-18 years who have been remanded or sentenced by the Children's Court, and some 18–21-year-olds sentenced by Adult Courts to a youth justice custodial centre.

The opportunity

* Ongoing, full time position
* Based at the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct with travel to the Cherry Creek and Malmsbury Youth Justice Precincts and ability to work flexibly
* VPS5 role: $113,022 - $136,747 per year plus super
* Support Youth Justice to operate secure, lawful, and resilient technology environments across custodial and community settings
* Provide expert advice on ICT compliance, assurance, and technology risk management within Youth Justice custodial settings, with a strong focus on safeguarding young people, staff, and the community
* Provide technical and application support for the Youth Justice education platform
* Work closely with Youth Justice operational sites, corporate ICT teams, service providers and assurance bodies to identify, assess and remediate technology risks, ensuring alignment with Victorian Government policy, Department of Justice and Community Safety standards, and relevant legislation

This role will require the successful candidate to work from a youth justice precinct and therefore may come in direct contact with young people.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have

* Demonstrated experience in ICT compliance, information security, privacy, or technology risk management within complex or regulated environments
* Strong working knowledge of Victorian Government ICT policy, information security frameworks, and privacy obligations
* Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, compliance reviews, and assurance activities, and translate findings into clear, actionable advice
* Experience working with operational stakeholders to implement practical technology controls in high-risk or sensitive service delivery environments

A tertiary qualification in information technology, information security, risk management, or related discipline is desirable. Relevant industry certifications in information security, audit, or risk management (e.g. ISO 27001, IRAP, CISA, CRISC) are also desirable. A current full driver\'s license is required as travel to other offices within the department is required. You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
