About The Role
The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end delivery of projects across Akura’s NSW/ACT portfolio, with a strategic focus on supporting the company’s interstate expansion. This role ensures effective resource planning, operational execution, and leadership across project teams—driving performance in quality, safety, and financial outcomes. Acting as a key cross-functional leader, the Construction Manager plays a critical role in strategic planning, fostering collaboration, and mentoring teams to achieve results aligned with Akura’s growth objectives and core values.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Planning
* Oversee resourcing across all projects, balancing current needs with future pipeline.
* Collaborate with Sales and Construction leaders on tenders and new opportunities.
* Drive interdepartmental teamwork and maintain strong client relationships.
* Plan construction methodologies and internal resource needs across design, logistics, and rigging.
Leadership & People
* Manage and mentor Project Teams and Site Managers, holding them accountable for KPIs and process compliance.
* Lead the CA and Delivery teams through the EOS framework (L10s, quarterly check-ins, planning).
* Build high-performing teams, foster a strong culture, and work with People & Culture to support workforce planning and training.
Project Delivery
* Ensure timely, high-quality, safe, and compliant project delivery.
* Conduct regular site visits and peer reviews of programs.
* Drive performance across safety, program, and quality standards.
Financial Oversight
* Deliver revenue and profit targets (GP and NP).
* Approve weekly forecasts, cashflows, budgets, and reforecasts.
* Support teams with financial tools and ensure compliance with Akura’s Limits of Authority and debtor processes.
Safety Leadership
* Address safety risks promptly and reinforce accountability across delivery teams.
* Promote a proactive, safety-first culture and monitor performance against safety KPIs.
About You
You will be a passionate and detail-oriented Construction Manager with a strong background in delivering large-scale industrial and commercial projects. Ideally, you will have grown your career from the ground up, bringing practical, hands-on experience that informs your leadership approach. With a proven ability to meet deadlines while upholding the highest standards of quality and safety, you’ll bring strategic oversight to every stage of project delivery.
This role requires confident leadership, the ability to guide and hold teams accountable, make informed decisions under pressure, and foster collaboration to ensure consistent project and business success. You can demonstrate:
