About the Role
As the Assistant Branch Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring our Melbourne branch runs efficiently and delivers an exceptional guest experience every day. You will support the Branch Manager across operations, vehicle coordination, workshop oversight, and team leadership — and act as second‐in‐charge when required.
What you'll be doing:
Lead and Support Daily Operations
* Assist with day‐to‐day branch running, ensuring smooth guest and vehicle flow.
* Deputise for the Branch Manager in their absence.
* Coordinate bookings and vehicle allocations in line with branch needs.
* Maintain high service standards and support guest enquiries professionally.
* Coach and develop Guest Service Officers and Vehicle Maintenance Officers to achieve performance expectations.
Vehicle Maintenance & Workshop Oversight
* Ensure all vehicles are maintained and presented to thl standards.
* Enter and manage workshop jobs in the IT system.
* Liaise with external suppliers and repairers to ensure quality and timely vehicle repairs.
Support Sales & Branch Targets
* Motivate the team to achieve ancillary sales.
* Look for opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiency.
Champion Workplace Health & Safety
* Promote a safe, organised, and welcoming work environment.
* Comply with WHS procedures and report hazards, incidents, and near‐misses promptly.

Requirements

Experience & Skills
* Previous experience supervising or directing staff
* Strong communication, leadership, and problem‐solving abilities
* Proven guest service experience and confidence handling enquiries
* Effective self‐management, organisation, and attention to detail
* Proficiency with computers and standard software
Other Essentials
* Ability to work weekends and public holidays as required
* Mechanical or automotive aptitude (advantageous but not essential)
* Experience in tourism, rental operations, or a Service Advisor role (beneficial)
