Position type : Permanent - Part time, staff work a rotating shift roster to cover these hours accordingly
Organisation : Little Yacks Learning Years, a not-for-profit children's service managed by Apollo Care Alliance, offering long day care for children aged 12 weeks to 5 years. Located in Yackandandah. Our aim is to provide an inclusive and safe environment with strong relationships between children, families and educators.
Position Objective
 * Work as an individual and as part of a team to provide quality care and education in a happy, safe, and stimulating environment.
 * Assist in delivering a developmentally appropriate, play-based educational programme.
 * Demonstrate effective communication, flexibility, initiative and autonomy.
 * Promote children's wellbeing and self-worth in a safe, caring environment.
 * Ensure compliance with relevant Acts and Regulations for Children's Services, the National Quality Framework, Child Safe Standards and the EYLF, including centre checklists, policies, and recording child data in OWNA.
 * Familiarity with and assistance in implementing LYLY policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
 * CHILDREN: Prioritize safety; build trusting relationships; monitor health and wellbeing; maintain records (incidents, medication, allergies, observations); support developmentally appropriate programs; interact with children according to developmental needs; maintain a clean, healthy environment; assist with activity preparation and supervision; adhere to NQF & EYLF requirements.
 * PARENTS: Communicate daily about their child's day; discuss developmental progress with parents and room leader; maintain confidentiality; provide information about centre operations and invite parent participation.
 * PROGRAMME: Assist with daily routines in line with National Quality Standards and centre policies; document observations and extend activities; participate in visits and planning; support learning through play and engagement.
 * ENVIRONMENT: Maintain a hygienic, safe, and stimulating indoor/outdoor environment; follow emergency procedures; assist with general duties; keep spaces tidy and inviting.
 * TEAM APPROACH: Involve co-educators, students and volunteers; model professionalism; participate in staff meetings and policy reviews; support teammates and seek help when needed.
 * PROFESSIONAL ROLE: Maintain knowledge of child development; participate in in-service programs and staff development; preserve confidentiality of children, families and staff.
 * ACCOUNTABILITY: Implement Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations; adhere to centre philosophy, policies, Chid Safe Standards, NQS, and ECAE Code of Ethics.
 * OTHER DUTIES: Complete any other duties as requested by the Director.
Pre-requisites
 * Child Care Qualification (Children's Services Trainee, LV 3 or LV 4 or equivalent)
 * Current Working with Children Check
 * Current First Aid Qualifications
 * Current Anaphylaxis Management Training
 * NDIS Worker Screening Check
 * Mandatory Reporting (yearly)
 * Food Safety knowledge
Selection Criteria
 * Knowledge of early childhood development, program planning and the Early Years Learning Framework; familiarity with National Quality Standards and Child Safe Standards.
 * Understanding of emotional needs of children; ability to work in a team; effective communication with parents and staff; adaptability and commitment to professional development.
 * Working knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations 2011 and the Children's Services Act 1996.
 * Some experience in Children's Centres is desirable.
