LET'S EXPLORE THE ROLE
Prime focus and responsibilities are to provide support and maintenance to the NSW Public Safety Network (PSN) which primarily provides communications capabilities for emergency service providers across the state.
This role will provide technical leadership and be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and managing the complex local and wide area networks to ensure maximum uptime for users.
A specific focus of this role is to support the configuration of the MPLS network and associated site-based equipment and provide ongoing technical support.
Key Responsibilities
Perform level 2 support and maintenance of supported customer systems
Nokia and Cisco router management, support, fault restoration and configuration
Link and connectivity management/support – Working with link suppliers to resolve issues and faults
Provide support, direction and guidance to other BAI Critical Communications and Field Services staff in relation to PSN and MPLS system maintenance and fault restoration
Assist in the development of work estimates and quotations for both out of scope PSN activity as well as external bids where appropriate
Assist the PSN NOCC Manager and Customer Service Manager by Providing high level support and resolution of customer issues in an agreed timeframe
Escalate to management any systemic issues that are operational and customer impacting to engage further engineering support for root cause and resolution
Support review of "as-built" and system documentation for directly supported systems, as required
Ensure installation and configuration is in accordance with documentation and quality Installation Standards
Provide instruction and guidelines to Subcontractors, as required
Participate in the On Call roster for after hour's primary response.
LET'S HEAR ABOUT YOU
5 plus years' experience working with large, complex IP networks
Expert experience in support and configuring of routers using protocols such as NTP, Radius, SNMPv3, QoS, OSPF, BFD, MPLS/RSVP, BGP, L2/3 VPN
Advanced expertise with Nokia **** routers, Palo Alto, and Juniper systems is highly advantageous
Experience working within an ITIL environment
Working knowledge of Linux and Windows server experience including Active Directory
Degree qualified in relevant discipline
Recognised vendor training such as CCNA or CCNP
Willingness to develop professionally and to learn and support other technologies
This role requires on-site attendance five days a week and is unable to be performed remotely or from home due to the nature of the role.
Australian Citizenship essential to obtain and maintain a baseline security clearance as a condition of employment
