Manager of Industries, Technical Security Unit (radio communications focus)
Location – Francis Greenway Correctional Complex, 2 The Northern Road, Berkshire Park NSW 2765
Employment type – Temporary, Full Time (up to 12 months) with the possibility of extension
Salary – Manager of Industries Classification, $157,704 + Superannuation + Annual Leave Loading
Your role
The Manager of Industries provides expert advice and reporting on the status of existing radio communication and electronic security systems as well as the future requirements of Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) for both correctional and community-based facilities.
The Manager of Industries also provides project management on the provision of comprehensive advice and support including analysis of deficiencies and recommended improvements to ensure that the agency's radio communication systems meet national and international best practice standards. This includes travel across the state to undertake the repair and maintenance of all equipment associated with radio communications.
What you'll do
* Provide high level support of radio communication infrastructure and system solutions to end users.
* Monitor the learning and development of staff within the Division and across CSNSW for increased efficiencies and effectiveness of radio communication systems and security systems including maintenance and storage procedures for equipment and secure data including site plans, equipment manuals and instructions.
* Develop controls for early detection, review, evaluation, reporting and remedy of actual breaches in the radio communication systems and ensuring assessment and advance resolution of potential risk factors.
* Coordinate the acquisition, programming and maintenance of CSNSW 2-way radio fleet.
* Conduct a program of audits and inspection of all facilities to ensure consistency and reliability of radio communication systems.
* Monitor the performance and efficiency of contractors in maintaining radio communication systems at optimal performance levels and in line with contractual obligations and either resolve issues or escalate via the appropriate channels for resolution.
* Prepare briefings, data and reports for senior management and stakeholders to inform decision making.
What we're looking for
Required
* Certificate III in Electronics and Communications, plus recent proven industry experience
* Knowledge and experience working with radio communication systems including system design, installation and asset management
* Knowledge and understanding of radio communication system requirements in a secure government environment including controls and processes
* The ability to respond and provide technical assistance, project implementation, repairs and advice across a diverse range of radio communication and electronic security systems
* Current Drivers Licence with ability and willingness to drive throughout NSW
Preferred
* Demonstrated experience in programming and repairing of IP networks.
* Knowledge and experience working with electronic security systems.
* Demonstrated experience in team leader/management of staff.
