Telecoms Engineering Leadership
The role of a Principal Telecoms Engineer involves leading the entire lifecycle of mission-critical communications networks. This encompasses designing and integrating various network components, including IP/MPLS transport networks, radio sites, voice and data communication systems, fibre optic and copper-based transmission systems, and associated ancillary subsystems.
* Develop high-level and low-level design documentation, comprising architecture diagrams, network design reports, and integration procedures.
* Configure, integrate, and test network equipment across multi-vendor platforms, primarily Cisco and Juniper routing and switching infrastructure.
* Perform site and factory acceptance testing, encompassing pre-commissioning, commissioning, and network migration activities.
* Lead fault isolation, network diagnostics, and root cause analysis across transport and access layers.
* Mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to skills development and knowledge transfer within the engineering team.
This role necessitates ensuring network designs comply with safety, security, and redundancy requirements, particularly in rail and mission-critical environments. A minimum of 10 years' experience as a Network Engineer is required, along with Cisco CCNP and/or Juniper JNCIS/JNCIP certifications. Strong project experience and the ability to manage competing priorities, multitask effectively, and meet tight deadlines in fast-paced delivery environments are highly desirable.
