Reporting to the Head of Operations – APAC, the Vetting Officer provides comprehensive support to the vetting team and handles routine enquiries from RightShip customers, including ship managers and charterers.
Responsibilities
* Review and categorise PSC, incident, and terminal data; evaluate root cause analysis and corrective action plans; engage with ship managers as needed.
* Maintain the vetting database and update the platform with accurate, timely records.
* Act as the first point of contact for the vetting team, monitoring daily emails and calls and escalating critical issues.
* Respond to routine vetting enquiries from external parties and provide support on RightShip activities such as vetting, inspections, Safety Score rating, and GHG rating.
* Ensure a high level of accuracy and data validation in all records and tasks within the platform.
* Prioritise workload to meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality customer service.
* Maintain proper correspondence and archival of documentation with external parties according to company procedures.
Qualifications
* Master or Chief Engineer certificate of competency; minimum five years in a senior capacity on international trading vessels.
* Strong background in maritime safety, preferably with tankers; incident investigation/root cause analysis training is highly desirable.
* Experience as a Safety Officer or similar role.
* Comprehensive knowledge of ship construction, structures, machinery, repair, operations, chartering, and safety management systems.
* Understanding of ship surveys and certifications (Class, PSC/USCG, flag state surveys) and international legislation (IMO, ILO, ISM Code, STCW, OCIMF,ICS).
* Familiarity with current industry standards for dry bulk, oil, chemical and gas vessels.
* Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
