**The Opportunity**

We have an opportunity for a Laboratory Manager to be part of our South Australian Research and Development Institute. Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The primary purpose of the Fruit Fly Response Laboratory Manager is coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Fruit Fly response laboratory including planning, coordinating and monitoring a range of complex program and project diagnostic activities and support functions for the Fruit Fly Response Program.

The role plans, coordinates and monitors a range of program and project support functions including the delivery and reporting of Fruit Fly Diagnostic activities and outcomes.

The Fruit Fly Response Laboratory Manager is also responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring laboratory systems, protocols and practices and coordinating and conducting audits and inspections to ensure the Fruit Fly Response Laboratory is compliant with national market access and quarantine requirements.

The role contributes delivering the agency's priorities including:

- Increasing productivity of our primary industries and agribusinesses
- Managing adverse events effectively and helping primary industries and communities improve preparedness, resilience and recover well
- Regulatory excellence and reforms of our legislative framework and programs to drive efficiency, effectiveness and unlock potential
- Build partnerships with industry, stakeholders, research organisations and regional communities
- Organisational performance as a modern, flexible, and responsive organisation that values and develops its people
- Preparedness to contribute to PIRSA's response and recovery obligations in emergency situations

The role contributes to delivering Biosecurity objectives by providing consultancy to scientific programs and projects that deliver a key SARDI Crop Sciences divisional objective of managing the risks to South Australia posed by invasive insect pests.

**Special Conditions**
- Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.

**Requirements**:

- Possession of a current driver's licence and willingness to drive
- Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required
- Australian residency or current work permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
- The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.
- Upholding the ethical behaviour and professional integrity standards as contained in the Public Sector Act, 2009.
- Participating in PIRSA's Performance Management and Development Program.

**Remuneration**

ASO5 - $85,790 min - $95,413 max per annum, plus superannuation
