About the Role

In this senior role, you will lead the provision of advanced clinical services in the areas of Aged Care and/or Disability and coordinate occupational therapy practice across general medical inpatient units. You will support patients presenting with cognitive impairments such as dementia and delirium, as well as individuals living with disability, including those supported through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

This role will be supported with additional training, supervision and mentoring for applicants developing specialised skills in aged care and/or disability.

Collaborating with colleagues and the broader multidisciplinary team, you will optimise patient functional outcomes and overall health status. Your ability to deliver evidence‐based, person‐centred care will be complemented by clinical leadership within the acute hospital setting, ensuring high standards of practice and continuous improvement.

Opportunities to increase working hours may be available, subject to service needs, departmental requirements, and applicant capacity.

About You

To thrive in this role, you will bring advanced clinical expertise and a strong commitment to delivering best‐practice care. You will have extensive experience managing a diverse range of occupational therapy presentations, with particular strength in supporting patients with cognitive impairment and individuals accessing NDIS supports.

Your well‐developed communication skills will enable you to engage effectively across all levels. You will be confident in consultation, negotiation, and conflict resolution, and capable of producing clear, accurate, and timely clinical documentation. Building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with patients, families, community services, and healthcare professionals will be central to your approach, especially within culturally diverse and multidisciplinary environments.

Equally important is your demonstrated leadership capability. You will be skilled in supervising and mentoring staff, working autonomously and as part of interdisciplinary teams, and managing competing priorities in a fast‐paced environment. Your adaptability, initiative, and commitment to service development will support ongoing program evaluation, innovation, and continuous quality improvement.
