Position Description: Provides strategic leadership and direction for the SMHS Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) Practitioner service, including direct patient care, education, stakeholder engagement and expert advice.
The position holder works closely with the SMHS End of Life Choices and Voluntary Assisted Dying Clinical Nurse Consultant and the Director Clinical Services to guide the ongoing development of a safe culture and sustainable VAD program across the organisation.
Promotes patient safety and quality of care.
Provides leadership, orientation, training, supervision and education, where relevant, for doctors in training, Health Service Medical Practitioners and other health workers.
In collaboration with the Director Clinical Services and other Consultants works to achieve national, state and SMHS performance standards and targets.
Works within the scope of clinical practice as defined and recommended by the SMHS Area Medical Credentialing Committee.
