You’ll operate at enterprise scale, partnering closely with product, risk, architecture and delivery leaders to shape how data platforms evolve across CBA. What you’ll be doing Reporting to the Technology Lead – Consumer Finance, you’ll provide end‑to‑end technical leadership for CBA’s enterprise data platforms, owning architectural direction, engineering standards and platform evolution across multiple domains. Balance hands‑on technical depth with executive‑level influence to deliver safe, scalable and future‑ready data foundations. Lead the technical strategy and target‑state architecture for enterprise data platforms, including CommBank.data, Data Marketplace and supporting data services. Own large‑scale data platform migrations, including legacy warehouse and pipeline rationalisation, while ensuring continuity, risk management and operational resilience. Define and govern engineering standards for data ingestion, transformation, lineage, observability, security and controls‑by‑design. Drive platform stabilisation and scalability, improving performance, reliability and production readiness for high‑volume and near‑real‑time data use cases. Establish and uplift enterprise data product patterns, semantic models and consumption standards in partnership with domain teams. Enable downstream platforms and experiences by providing reliable, well‑governed data services for digital channels, Cards Modernisation and AI‑enabled use cases. Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders, lifting data engineering capability and shaping the next generation of engineering leadership. We’re interested in hearing from people who: Are deeply technical hands‑on, Chief Engineers with expertise building and evolving enterprise‑scale data platforms in complex, regulated environments. You bring strong architectural judgement, a passion for engineering excellence, and the ability to influence at senior levels. Have led the design and evolution of large‑scale data platforms, including cloud‑native, distributed and event‑driven architectures. Bring experience delivering major data migrations or platform transformations from legacy to modern stacks. Understand data governance, controls, lineage, observability and operational risk in production‑grade environments. Are comfortable working across ambiguity, balancing platform stabilisation with forward‑looking innovation. Have influenced senior stakeholders and partnered across product, risk and delivery to achieve enterprise outcomes.
