The Balmain Group has over $10B in receivables under management, including a commercial loan portfolio exceeding $5.5B and provides $4B in property investment and development loans each year. Loans range in size between $1M to in excess of $100M for a range of purposes including investment, construction and site acquisition.Structured/preferred equity transactions also form part of the business appetite.
PRIMARY ROLE
As a Credit Data Analyst, you will be a critical component in interpreting, analysing, assessing, actioning and managing these transactions.
The role is suited to a person with an understanding of the fundamentals of credit data analysis and lending including the development and structured finance process. Candidates with property valuing and property economics experience are also encouraged to apply. A knowledge of commercial property finance is desirable but not essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assist in preparation of risk assessments for property-related loan applications, including analysis of valuations, planning approvals, feasibilities, and market conditions.
* Use quantitative and numerical analysis methods to support and develop credit assessments, portfolio monitoring and decision making.
* Collaborate with the team to structure and negotiate loan terms that meet both client needs and company risk appetite.
* Formulate and develop mathematical and financial models to assess loan structures, cash flows and risk scenarios.
* Apply and refine models using loan, valuation, feasibility and portfolio performance data.
* Monitor and manage the performance of the property loan portfolio, identifying and addressing potential risks and issues.
* Assess and monitor the reliability and suitability of valuation reports, market data and other third-party information.
* Maintain strong relationships with the sales team, internal stakeholders and external consultants, to facilitate smooth loan transactions.
* Work closely with management, credit teams and clients to determine objectives of credit analysis and reporting.
* Prepare and present credit reports and recommendations to senior management and credit committees.
* Identify and collate required financial and market data and determine appropriate methodologies for collection and analysis.
* Analyse and interpret financial data to identify industry trends, regulatory changes, and market developments to inform credit decisions and strategies.
* Undertake data cleansing and portfolio analysis to determine trends and extract insight supporting credit risk management and investment decisions.
* Structure and draft legal letters of offer and variations.
* Close monitoring and reporting to executive management of any non-compliant loans, including monetary and technical defaults.
* Work closely with the Credit team's external loan management provider, lending panel consultants and security document custodian.
* Instruct and manage the loan documentation process and negotiation.
COMPETENCY / JOB SKILL ATTRIBUTES / REQUIREMENTS
* An understanding of commercial property lending.
* Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) are essential.
* Property, finance or economics tertiary qualifications.
* The ability to write and present a detailed loan submission with supporting analysis and risk assessment.
* The ability to liaise with and instruct legal consultants to draft documentation.
* Working knowledge of commercial loan settlements.
* The ability to work autonomously within a team setting is essential.
* Time management & organisational skills.
* Problem solving skills with a high attention to detail.
