Position Summary
Join our client's dynamic team as a Mechanical Design Engineer, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mineral process plant projects. This contract position, spanning 6-12 months starting January 2026, offers an exciting opportunity to work on critical mineral projects. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, you'll either lead or collaborate within a highly skilled team to deliver project outcomes that meet stringent company, client, and project standards. Your expertise in detailed design, particularly in base metals, rare earth minerals, and mineral processing, will be crucial. You'll be responsible for materials handling, plant front end design, and the intricacies of slurry, water, and solutions pumping and pipeline design. A thorough understanding of Australian and industry codes and standards is essential. We seek innovative thinkers with a strong focus on deliverables, capable of planning and executing work both independently and collaboratively.

About the Role
* Lead or collaborate within a highly experienced team to support critical mineral projects, ensuring timely and professional delivery of project deliverables.
* Design and develop detailed mechanical systems for mineral process plants, focusing on materials handling, plant front end, slurry, water, and solutions pumping and pipeline design.
* Ensure all designs comply with relevant Australian and industry codes and standards, maintaining a strong focus on deliverables and project planning.
* Work closely with the Mechanical Engineering Manager to align project goals with company and client requirements.
* Utilize innovative thinking to solve complex engineering problems, working both collaboratively and autonomously to meet strict deadlines.
* Contribute to a positive team environment with a focus on continuous learning and improvement.
About the Candidate
* Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Detailed design experience across mineral process plant projects.
* Experience with base metals, rare earth minerals, and mineral processing in a design and construct environment.
* Proficiency in materials handling and plant front end design.
* Expertise in slurry, water, and solutions pumping and pipeline design.
* Understanding of relevant Australian and industry codes and standards.
* Strong deliverable focus and ability to plan work effectively.
* Innovative thinker with the ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously.
* Effective time management and strong analytical abilities.
* A good attitude, team focus, and willingness to learn.
