Build your career and Australia's future.

Not many people can say they are working on building Australia's future. With us you'll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there's equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.

A fantastic opportunity has presented itself for a Security Government Manager, Compliance & Government Engagement reporting to the Executive Manager Security Compliance and Government Engagement, GRC and Advisory.

A bit about your role

This newly created Security Government Manager role offers the opportunity to shape how nbn partners with government on matters of national security, risk and regulatory expectations. Reporting to the Executive Manager Security Compliance and Government, you will play a central role in strengthening nbn's relationship with government and ensuring that complex policy and regulatory requirements are translated into clear, practical guidance that supports the organisation's responsibilities as a critical infrastructure provider. You will bring together insights from national security policy, risk and regulatory frameworks to guide all hazards engagement, helping the business maintain a confident and compliant security posture.

In this role, you will nurture strong and trusted relationships across government agencies, internal security teams, senior leaders and cross functional partners. You will create high-quality written advice, education materials and awareness content that uplift understanding of strategic risks, emerging technologies and the external threat environment. You will lead thoughtful and well-prepared engagements with internal stakeholders to support their interpretation of government advisories and frameworks, ensuring nbn remains aligned with evolving expectations. Your work will be grounded in collaboration, clarity and purpose, supported by close partnerships with Corporate Affairs, Legal and Regulatory, and teams across the Security Group

A bit about you

You will bring deep experience in security engagement, risk or policy roles, ideally with a strong understanding of national security or intelligence functions of government. You are confident navigating frameworks such as NIST, PSPF or the Essential Eight, and you draw on your technical knowledge to provide advice that is both accurate and accessible. You will have an understanding of relevant legislation e.g. Telco, SOCI Act. You communicate with warmth and precision, and you take pride in producing thoughtful written material that supports informed decision-making across the organisation.

You thrive in environments where relationships matter. Stakeholder Engagement is pivotal in this role and you approach stakeholders with empathy, curiosity and a commitment to shared outcomes. Your ability to translate complex policy and regulatory requirements into meaningful guidance reflects your attention to detail and your desire to help others succeed. You are self-drive, adaptable and comfortable working across diverse teams, contributing to a culture that values openness, accountability and collective problem-solving. With your steady judgement, collaborative mindset and ability to hold or maintain an Australian Government security clearance, you will help ensure nbn remains prepared, resilient and aligned with its responsibilities as a national critical infrastructure provider.
