Our client is a highly respected engineering company with extensive experience in providing word class quality products to the mining and construction industry. They pride themselves on quality services with a strong emphasis on safety including custom design and fabrication, equipment repair and maintenance, as well as equipment hire.
Due to growth, we're seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual who takes pride in their work to join their team as a Workshop Trades Assistant/Delivery Driver. This position plays a critical support role in the workshop supporting the production team including Boilermakers, Fitters and Machinists. You will also support the Warehouse teams with stores work and deliveries to customers.
The Role:
* Support machine operators with pre-start checks, tooling prep, basic job setups, and changeovers as directed.
* Assist with routine machine maintenance and cleaning such as filter changes, coolant checks, and basic cleaning schedules.
* Perform general housekeeping tasks including floor sweeping, waste disposal, and spill clean-up.
* Move raw materials, tooling, and finished goods using appropriate lifting aids or equipment (e.g., trolleys, forklifts where licensed).
* Replenish coolant, lubricants, rags, consumables, and basic shop supplies as needed.
* Prepare, pick-up or deliver parts to and from other departments or client sites in the company ute. You will be conducting deliveries approx 50% of the time.
* Support loading/unloading of deliveries and outgoing freight, ensuring correct handling and documentation.
* Maintain awareness of job schedules, supporting operators in getting jobs ready on time.
* Assist the warehouse with picking and packing orders, receiving and dispatching goods.
What we're looking for:
* Experience as a Trade Assistant or fitting in a workshop or similar
* Stores experience is desirable but not essential.
* Forklift license.
* C class drivers licence essential - MR Drivers licence (favourable)
* Ability to follow detailed work instructions and work independently
* Able to carry our physical tasks as required
* Self motivated, good organisations skills
* Suited to working in a fast-paced environment.
* Punctual and reliable with exceptional interpersonal skills
* Ability to communicate with customers at a professional level when conducting deliveries/pick-ups.
