- Based in Ballarat, we are looking to appoint an energetic self-motivated Laboratory Assistant on a part-time basis.**About the role**
- We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team. Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Routine receipting and processing of specimens; including operation and maintenance of analysers
- Pre and post analytical specimen handling
- Identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens
- Filing and storage of specimens and data entry
- Assisting Scientists in the Lab as required
- Continuous learning of processing requirements of different types of samples for different tests
- Staying up to date with processing updates
- Respond to result, sample requirements and general queries
- Identifying and resolving problems on at the pre-analytic stage
- This is an exciting opportunity for a person interested in the medical field to further their knowledge assist the community in our Ballarat Laboratory.**About you**
- To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:
- Specimen processing and data entry experience
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and work as a team
- Understanding the importance of following procedures accurately
- A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
- Previous laboratory experience and exposure to medical terminology would be desirable, but not essential
- Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or Pathology Collection is desirable
- You are passionate person interested in the medical field and participating in the care of patients.
- You display excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, work within a team as well as by yourself. You thrive in a busy environment and can work at a fast pace while demonstrating high attention to detail.
