Chief Executive Officer (Part-Time) – Lead with Purpose at Fortuna Foundation
Fortuna Foundation is on the lookout for a passionate, values-driven leader to join our Board as CEO. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable communities, while shaping the future of a growing not-for-profit organisation.
This role is primarily voluntary, however, for the right candidate, an honorarium of up to $2,000 per month is available for a commitment of 2–3 days per week .
This is a hands-on role for someone who leads with purpose and thrives on making things happen. We're looking for a proactive, action-oriented individual a true go-getter who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and drive meaningful impact. It could be the perfect opportunity for someone who’s retired or semi-retired but still wants to stay active, involved, and make a real difference by leading from the front.
About Us:
The Fortuna Foundation understands that life isn’t equal for everyone. Many people face genuine financial hardship, often leading to hunger, poor health, limited education, and vulnerability. While we know we can’t change the world overnight, we’re committed to making meaningful change, step by step. Through initiatives like our Positive Spin Mobile Laundry Van operating five days a week to provide dignity and clean clothing to those experiencing homelessness and our dedicated Mental Health Truck offering accessible support where it’s needed most, we actively deliver care and practical help to people doing it tough. At the same time, our work aims to inspire compassion, resilience, and a sense of purpose in the next generation.
Key Responsibilities:
o Source new grants and sponsorships for financial sustainability
o We are also working on becoming a one source of trust for not-for-profit sector by creating financial sustainability low-cost model
o Ensure strong governance, strategic oversight, and leadership in alignment with FF’s mission and values.
o Contribute to setting and reviewing the strategic direction of the organisation.
o Monitor financial performance and ensure sustainable resource allocation.
o Represent the Fortuna Foundation externally, advocating for its mission and building relationships with key stakeholders.
In addition to the general board skills and experience requirements, the Board is specifically seeking a senior executive with a strong background in finance, community, or innovation leadership.
Working with the Board you will assist in shaping our 5-year strategic plan specifically by Advising the Board and Executive on:
o Developing, implementing, and evaluating the Foundation’s community innovation and capability strategy. This includes ensuring our roadmap aligns with our goals and ensures scalability and efficiency.
o Strategies that enhances the experience, ensuring that programs and services meet customer needs and expectations in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
Your commitment:
This is mainly a volunteer role, that will require a commitment of 2-3 days per week. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
