Base pay range
A$143,275.00/yr - A$153,195.00/yr
Registrar - Remuneration Package Range $143,275 - $179,086 (including salary $122,264 - $153,195)
Surgical and Critical Care
Several fixed vacancies from 02/02/2026 to 31/07/2027 are available working in Darwin and Palmerston

Further develop your professional expertise in Orthopaedic Surgery as an Unaccredited Orthopaedic Surgery Registrar with Royal Darwin Hospital.
Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital is the principle tertiary hospital within the region and provides a broad range of referral services in all specialist areas to Darwin, the Top End of the NT, Western Australia and South-East Asia.
Currently, the Royal Darwin Hospital is inviting Unaccredited Orthopaedic Surgery Registrars to apply for 12-month training programs starting in February 2026.
Under the direction of Dr. Matthew Sharland, a renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee, elbow and shoulder surgeries, you will further develop your surgical skills by providing high-quality orthopaedic services to patients at Royal Darwin and via outreach services to Katherine and Gove hospitals.
Your key duties will involve the admission, management and discharge of patients from the service under the supervision of the Orthopaedic Specialist and Fellow and participating in elective and emergency theatre cases. You will also be required to participate in the Department’s 24-hr roster to ensure the proper functioning of the service and provide outreach services to Katherine and Gove hospitals. In addition, you will have the opportunity to conduct research, peer review practices, professional development, and provide supervision to junior medical and clinical staff.
To be successful you are required to be eligible for appropriate registration with the Medical Board of Australia, have relevant experience and training in Orthopaedics, and can demonstrate research capability and a commitment to delivering high-quality care to patients.
