**Job Overview**:
Coorong Apiaries Pty Ltd (trading as Coorong Apiaries) are looking for an experienced and motivated Beekeeper to oversee the care and maintenance of our bee colonies on a full-time basis.
This role involves regular hive inspections, managing bee health, harvesting honey and other products, and ensuring the overall productivity and sustainability of the apiary.
**Responsibilities**:
- Inspect beehives regularly to monitor colony health and productivity
- Identify and address diseases, parasites, and other hive issues
- Manage hive population through techniques such as splitting and requeening
- Harvest and process honey, beeswax, and other hive products
- Keep detailed records of hive conditions, treatments, and yields
- Maintain and repair beekeeping equipment
- Ensure all activities comply with local agricultural and safety regulations
- Support educational or outreach events when needed
**Requirements**:
- Previous experience in beekeeping or related field
- Knowledge of honeybee biology and seasonal hive management
- Ability to work independently and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to lift hives and equipment (up to 50 lbs)
- Valid driver's license
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Formal training or certification in apiculture or entomology
- Experience with sustainable beekeeping practices
- Familiarity with queen rearing and hive expansion techniques
**Salary**
If successful, you will be paid a base salary ranging between $75,000 to $85,000 per annum.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
