The Library is seeking to fill an ongoing Senior Storage Engineer EL1 role in the Technology Operations Section of the Digital Branch.
The Senior Storage Engineer role provides specialist technical expertise to support the delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of the NLA's ICT services. Operating within the Technology Operations Section, the role contributes to both business-as-usual activities and project delivery across NLA network, systems, data, and backup and recovery environments, ensuring the availability, integrity, and resilience of critical information assets.
The role will have accountability for the design, maintenance and innovative evolution of the NLAs large-scale on-premises storage and enterprise backup platforms through the ongoing management of storage, networking and restoration capabilities. This includes defining storage tiers, designing storage architectures and forecasting long-term capacity needs to cater for growing digital collections, and data restoration services.
Other activities include managing off-site replication strategies, maintaining and testing Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans, cybersecurity controls and ensuring tape operations (LTO libraries) are reliable and aligned with archival policies.
We are looking for someone with expert subject matter expertise relevant to supporting and maintaining the NLA systems and infrastructure. Includes storage, server, virtual, networks, databases, BCP and cloud as relevant to role requirements. The ideal candidate will also have experience in supporting procurement, contract management, and vendor relationships.
To succeed in this role, you have:
* at least five years' proven experience in the design, procurement, installation, maintenance and management of large-scale storage systems
* a minimum NV1 security clearance, or the ability to obtain
* an understanding of government procurement practices
