About the role
Join the Public Transport Authority (PTA) as a Database Administrator and play a vital role in ensuring the availability, performance, and reliability of our IT systems and databases. This position is responsible for maintaining high service standards across system installation, maintenance, and support, while delivering solutions that meet customer needs efficiently. You'll provide technical leadership, drive business improvement initiatives, and stay ahead of emerging technologies to recommend enhancements that benefit the organisation.
As part of your core responsibilities, you'll analyse system performance, implement improvements, and contribute to continuity planning and backup strategies. You'll work within established service agreements, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and resolve issues in mission-critical environments. Your expertise will also support project delivery, including input into business cases and technical guidance on new and existing technology systems. This is a dynamic opportunity to shape the future of public transport technology in Western Australia.
About You
To excel in this role, you should possess:
* Holds or is progressing toward a tertiary qualification in a computer-related field, with proven experience in database and systems support. Demonstrates strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle RDBMS, including administration, performance tuning, installation, troubleshooting, and high availability implementation.
* Experienced in supporting UNIX and Windows operating systems, maintaining technical documentation, and applying IT Service Management practices to ensure reliable, efficient, and well-documented IT operations.
* Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Skilled in analysing data, producing insightful reports, and managing time efficiently to meet deadlines while working independently.
