About the role
Ventia is seeking a dedicated Range Caretaker to join our team on a full-time basis.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in land and infrastructure maintenance, fire mitigation, and environmental management across Defence training areas.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to national defence capability in a dynamic and rewarding environment, while working closely with local communities and supporting operational readiness
Key responsibilities include:
The Range Caretaker supports the safe and effective operation of Defence training areas through:
Maintenance of infrastructure including roads, buildings, towers, and airfieldsWeed and land management, including spraying and planned burnsConducting inspections, audits, and data recording using GIS devicesFire mitigation and cyclone preparednessSupporting community engagement and subcontractor coordinationAdministering accommodation tasks and hygiene checksDelivering briefings and ensuring operational readiness before exercise
About you
Certificate in Senior First Aid (mandatory)Cert III in Conservation and Land Management (highly desirable)Experience in chainsaw operation, weed spraying, fence repairs, and firefightingFamiliarity with AIIMS and firefighting coordinationStrong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skillsBasic computer skills and radio communications proficiency3+ years in a similar roleAbility to navigate using maps and annotate in Defence vernacularMust be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance.
As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen and be willing to undertake andmaintaina satisfactory Australian Federal Police
