Electrical Drafter – Substation Engineering & Design
Overview: We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Drafter in a permanent role based in Adelaide, in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and produce detailed secondary system designs for electrical substations using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
- Design and layout protection and control schemes.
- Create detailed wiring diagrams, control schematics, and panel layouts for substation secondary systems.
- Develop interface drawings for substation equipment and ensure proper integration of secondary systems.
- Conduct technical reviews of substation design drawings and documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure designs meet project specifications and standards.
- Review and analyse project requirements, providing technical solutions and recommendations for secondary systems.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations in all design work.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work setting.
Required Experience:
- Previous experience in secondary systems design for electrical substations preferred.
- Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD software is essential.
- Strong understanding of electrical design principles, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team.
- Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary studies in a relevant field are highly regarded, but substantial hands‑on experience and proven track record in HV Electrical Design Drafting will also be considered. A combination of relevant qualifications and practical experience is desirable.
