Lead the Student Services team at Nanango State School and across the Kingaroy South Cluster in this temporary Head of Department opportunity until 21 October 2026, unless otherwise determined.

The Head of Special Education Services based at Nanango State School is a cluster HOSES position servicing the Primary and P-9 schools in the Kingaroy South Cluster.

This role is suited to an experienced educator with strong instructional leadership capabilities in inclusive education.

Nanango State School – Special Education Program supports students with diverse learning needs within a welcoming and inclusive Prep to Year 6 environment. Located in the South Burnett region of Queensland, the school is committed to delivering personalised learning, fostering student wellbeing, and providing targeted support to help every student engage, achieve and thrive as part of the broader school community.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the delivery of high-quality advice and support provided by the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program.
• Lead and manage the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program to provide advice to classroom teachers for students with disability as needed.
• Provide high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
• Coordinate and provide intensive targeted teaching for students requiring intervention.

Qualifications

• Experience with NCCD data collection, ECDP services and a focus on Inclusive Education is paramount.
• Experienced educator with strong instructional leadership in inclusive education.
