Position Overview
The Home Ownership Housing Support Officer plays a crucial role in managing housing programs, particularly the Hedland Aboriginal Home Ownership Program. This position is dedicated to supporting Aboriginal families and individuals in their pursuit of home ownership through comprehensive case management that addresses various barriers and empowers clients to achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Engage with clients to create personalised, holistic case management plans tailored to individual aspirations.
* Establish achievable short- and long-term goals using a strengths-based approach.
* Facilitate warm referrals to relevant services, ensuring clients receive the support they need.
* Assist clients in achieving financial independence through tailored support and guidance.
* Clearly explain program objectives and client obligations to ensure informed participation.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation related to client case management.
* Collaborate with the Bloodwood Tree team to foster strong relationships and effective referral pathways.
* Engage with stakeholders, including Foundation Housing and the Department of Communities, to address complex matters and support client plans.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to providing high-quality, culturally appropriate services to our clients. You will have a deep understanding of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the unique challenges they face.
* Current C-class driving licence.
* Willingness to obtain a recent Police Clearance, valid Working with Children Check, and Senior First Aid Certificate.
* Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act and government home ownership schemes is desirable.
* Exceptional customer service skills, particularly in challenging situations.
* Strong interpersonal skills, capable of managing emotional situations sensitively and professionally.
* Effective communication skills, adaptable to various audiences.
* Attention to detail and strong organisational skills for managing time and administrative duties.
* Commitment to workplace safety, reporting risks and hazards as necessary.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer systems.
