Who we are
The Mental Health Emergency Consultation and Support (MHECS) Clinician is part of a multidisciplinary team. The team consists of nurses, social workers, psychologists and occupational therapists. The team operates on a 24/7 rotating roster, based in Wagga, providing virtual support to the surrounding towns.
What you'll be doing
The MHECS Clinician is responsible for coordinating and delivering emergency mental health consultations, assessments and support services to persons (including their family, and/or carers) who are experiencing acute mental health crisis in the MLHD.
The MHECS Clinician develops a plan to assist, support and guide the emergency department clinicians in 32 hospitals across MLHD in managing risk, medications and plans for ongoing care.
Criteria
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
* Demonstrated 3 years' experience working in Mental Health
* A relevant tertiary qualification (Nursing, Psychology, Social Work or Occupational Therapy) and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA – Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists) OR eligibility for membership of the relevant disciplines peak body (AASW – Social Workers).
* High level of knowledge and understanding of complex Mental Health conditions and the implementing the recovery principles and trauma informed care.
* A current Class C Drivers Licence – with willingness to travel across the district for work purposes.
