Fire Service Leader

The Queensland Fire Department provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments.

To ensure the delivery of high-quality service, we are seeking a Station Officer who will be responsible for operational command and control, daily management of a fire and rescue station, and providing leadership to firefighters.

* Protect and serve the community by responding to fires and other emergencies in a professional and timely manner to minimise loss to life, property and the environment.
* Improve the safety and emergency preparedness of the community by contributing to fire prevention and community education activities.


Your Key Responsibilities

Your role in ensuring our department's ongoing success will see you responsible for a variety of work, including:

1. Manage operational incidents and direct firefighters and resources in response to emergency and hazardous material incidents.
2. Review and contribute to continuous improvement processes by providing feedback from lessons identified during operational incidents.
3. Contribute to the management of staff and physical assets, and financial responsibilities at station level to ensure appropriate service delivery standards.
4. Undertake station administration responsibilities in a timely and effective manner.
5. Coordinate and conduct community safety and fire prevention/education activities.
6. Manage training and staff development.
7. Manage project and functional responsibilities relating to operational preparedness, response and recovery.
8. Foster a cooperative and positive work environment.
9. Develop cooperative and collaborative arrangements with auxiliary and volunteer emergency service partners.
10. Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of operational service plans.
11. Manage communication within the workplace and liaise between other stations, other emergency services, government agencies and the community.
12. Maintain knowledge and ensure all legislative, policy and procedural requirements are applied.
13. Support initiatives and principles.
14. Comply with responsibilities of Workforce Health and Safety legislation.
15. Promote values in the Code of Conduct.
