**The Hive Early Learning Geelong** is a childcare centre and kindergarten offering care to children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. We are a 125 place centre located just a 10-minute drive from Geelong's city centre and the popular Westfield Geelong. With easy access to public transport and major roads, our centre provides a central and accessible location for families and staff. The Early Childhood Assistant works closely with qualified Early Childhood Educators and the Centre Director to deliver a dynamic and engaging educational program. The role involves creating a warm, flexible, and safe environment for children's growth, engaging with children and families, providing administrative support, and participating in staff meetings to contribute to the development of the centre.
**Role responsibilities**
- Assist with planning and implementing activities and observing children's development to guide learning.
- Ensure children's safety, supervise activities, maintain a hazard-free space, and assist with transitions.
- Provide tailored support for children with additional needs, fostering independence, problem-solving, and social skills.
- Build trust with children through play, emotional support, and encouraging positive social interactions.
- Assist with behaviour strategies, promoting respect and conflict resolution.
- Work with educators and staff, attend meetings and assist with classroom setup and cleanup.
- Maintain positive relationships with families, share updates and support family involvement.
- Help maintain records of children's progress, attendance, behaviour, and incidents.
**Role skills/competencies**:
- Strong written communication skills
- Demonstrated confidence in guiding documentation related to children's learning and development.
**Experience and Knowledge**:
- ACECQA-approved qualification.
- Passion for working with Nursery-aged children.
- Commitment to child safety and development.
- Valid First Aid, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis Training.
- Working with Children Check and Mandatory Reporting.
- Australian working rights.
