About the Role
St Francis Xavier College has embarked on an ambitious and future oriented Strategic Plan in 2025 which will incorporate a renewed focus on excellence and innovation in teaching, learning and student wellbeing from Years 7-12. The College has developed a new Executive role to extend and support the work of our academic team. The Assistant Principal Teaching and Learning will join the Executive team to work alongside the Assistant Principals’ Curriculum and Innovation, Staff Development and Pastoral Care to realise the Mission of the College. The purpose of the role is to enhance the quality of teaching and learning to improve student achievement at the College. The Assistant Principal Teaching and Learning works closely with the Director of Junior Studies, Heads of Department, the Inclusive Education Team, the Hums Team, the Learning Commons Team and individual teachers to ensure that teaching practices are having the most positive impact on learning and students are achieving to their potential. The role also works with the Assistant Principal Curriculum and Innovation to ensure all teaching staff are engaged in professional growth, and that whole school approaches to assessment and reporting, AI, Data Analytics and College Learning Management System practices are embedded across the College. As a member of the College Executive, this position is first and foremost a leader of faith and the Mission of the Church and is directly accountable to the Principal.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support teaching and learning across Years 7-12 to enhance student achievement.
- Collaborate with the Director of Junior Studies, Heads of Department, and other teams to ensure positive impact on learning.
- Work with the Assistant Principal Curriculum and Innovation to embed whole‑school approaches to assessment and reporting, AI, data analytics and LMS practices.
- Contribute to the College’s Strategic Plan and Mission as a member of the College Executive.

Qualifications and Eligibility
- Bachelor or Master of Teaching
- Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) registration
- Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration
- Practising Catholic connected to a parish or other worshipping community
- Provide a reference from a current Parish Priest
- Have completed or be due to complete Accreditation E in accordance with the Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Catholic Education, Canberra and Goulburn Policy.
