About the role The Advanced Academic Nurse Researcher and Advanced Academic Midwife Researcher are accountable to the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Workforce and Professional Practice for building a strategic research culture and capability framework for the nursing and midwifery workforce by: Building and embedding a nursing and midwifery research culture across WCHN and sustain momentum and achieve initiatives through small pilots. Expanding research and education and mentorship by providing accessible programs to nurses and midwives across all divisions of WCHN. Strengthening networks, partnerships and collaboration and inclusive research capacity at acute and community sites. Advancing equity, access and consumer participation in research by facilitating collaborative research initiatives that addressing system priorities and consumer needs. Ensuring translation of evidence to care delivery for continuous improvement in service delivery. Implementing a Research Mentorship program through Clinical Nurse/Midwife portfolio. Key duties of the role Lead competency improvement and analysis, measurement and evaluation of education, and professional development. Support nurses and midwives working clinically to investigate practice issues. Assist nurses and midwives to implement results of research and innovate practice. Change local processes and practices in accordance with emerging service needs. Promote inclusive research leadership by connecting underrepresented clinicians to research opportunities and mentorship. Skills and Experience Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate; OR Registered or eligible for registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate. Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience. Emerging profile through research outputs as evidenced by publication in peer – reviewed journals or conference presentations. Demonstrated experience translating research findings into clinical practice.
