About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented General Accountant to join our growing team in Geelong. You will be responsible for the integrity of the general ledger, day-to-day accounting operations, and providing accurate financial reporting to support management decisions.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare monthly management reports and financial statements
* Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entries
* Investigating variances, discrepancies and irregularities in financial data
* Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
* Support external audits and year-end reporting
* Monitor cash flow and financial performance
* Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and requirements
* Assist with process improvements and internal control
* Prepare BAS, payroll tax, and other statutory reporting obligations
* Maintaining organised financial documentation and record-keeping systems
* Reviewing and accurately processing supplier invoices
* Preparing and processing weekly payment runs and ad hoc payments
* Performing daily bank reconciliations and monitoring cash flow
* Assisting with financial reporting, analysis and ad hoc projects as required
* Manage, guide, and support overseas personnel across daily operations and team objectives
Skills & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
* 2+ years' experience in a general accounting role
* Experience supervising or supporting accounting staff
* Strong knowledge of Australian accounting principles and GST requirements
* Xero experience (highly regarded)
* Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
* CPA or CA qualification (completed or in progress preferred)
* High attention to detail and strong analytical capability
* Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
