As a Land Access Specialist, you will play a critical role in the success of InfraCo’s Land Access function by proactively cultivating relationships with strategic stakeholders to secure timely approvals for Land Access, Cultural Heritage, and Environmental matters. These approvals are essential to support the design, construction, and maintenance of Telstra’s diverse network infrastructure assets. Your expertise will be instrumental in navigating complex regulatory landscapes and ensuring compliance with both internal policies and external legislative requirements. By implementing and upholding key compliance procedures, you will help safeguard the organisation’s operations and reputation, contributing to InfraCo’s commitment to responsible and sustainable infrastructure development. Act as a subject matter expert, offering coaching and strategic support across InfraCo on environmental and regulatory issues. Conduct comprehensive assessments of environmental factors—including flora, fauna, European heritage, and Aboriginal cultural heritage—during the design phase of new infrastructure projects. Ensure all relevant Commonwealth, State, and Local legislation is considered in land access and construction or maintenance risk assessments. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of environmental legislation, policy developments, and procedural changes. Build and sustain effective working relationships with state and federal government agencies, local authorities, and other key stakeholders. Provide technical support to designers and undertake pre- and post-design activities within defined timeframes and compliance standards. Deliver expert advice to internal stakeholders—including Compliance Leads, Risk Management teams, and Executives—on compliance obligations, ensuring clear communication and training on new legislative or policy changes. Apply advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify, assess, and resolve potential compliance issues or breaches. Contribute to the development and implementation of organizational compliance standards, including the preparation of operational risk management training and manuals. Proactively engage in technical self-development by researching regulatory bulletins and other authoritative sources to remain current with evolving regulations. About You Demonstrated advanced investigative skills with a strong understanding of privacy obligations and legislative compliance. Specialist expertise in land access and environmental legislation, including associated processes and procedures. Proven ability to build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups and leadership levels. Strong stakeholder relationship management and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to foster trust and drive collaborative outcomes. Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and societies, with an appreciation of historical and contemporary Indigenous issues (highly regarded). Experience working with geographically and culturally diverse communities, including metropolitan, regional, and remote areas. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across a wide range of organizations. Highly developed analytical capabilities and a track record of resolving complex issues independently. Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously while contributing collaboratively within a team environment. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in obtaining project-based land access and environmental clearances.
