About the role 
The 
Mater Hospital Mackay 
currently has an exciting opportunity for a 
Clinical Midwife 
to work within our Maternity Unit on a 
permanent part-time basis 
, with hours flexible and open to discussion. 
As a Clinical Midwife, you will be responsible for practicing with advanced clinical competence in the provision of quality and cost-effective care in consultation with other members of the health care team. 
This includes providing support and direction to other staff while role modelling and promoting professional standards of practice and conduct. 
Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards, you will be responsible for: 
Provide support to staff on best practices for managing pregnancy care and improving outcomes for women in both antenatal and postnatal stages 
Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision 
Provide clinical guidance, leadership and education to members of the clinical team to ensure consistent and collaborative implementation of improvement activities 
Liaise with obstetric teams to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care and manage complex cases in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams 
Actively contributing towards the Quality, Safety and Work, Health and Safety processes in the clinical area 
Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care 
Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care 
Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth 
About you 
To be successful in your application for this position it is essential that you have: 
Current Midwifery registration with AHPRA 
Post-graduate midwifery experience 
Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of midwifery practice 
Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care within the multidisciplinary team 
Commitment to the continuous improvement of health care and midwifery practice, and to continuing professional development of self and others 
An ability to work autonomously and function as a member of a diverse health service delivery team 
Willingness to commit to and role model the Mater values
