Electro technical officer - eto (electronic) casual (hobart)

We are seeking NZ qualified ETO's who want to join an Australian Flagged Vessel in some truly amazing locations. Serco will support you in AMSA Cert of Recognition.

The RSV Nuyina forms the centrepiece of the Australian Antarctic Strategy and 20 Year Action Plan and will influence the shape of the nation's scientific research programme for decades to come.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer via the First Engineer, the Electro Technical Officers support all vessel electrical power and distribution, propulsion, control and instrumentation systems, for both operations and maintenance, while the vessel is at sea and alongside.

Due to the advanced & complex nature of the RSV Nuyina, there are 3 ETOs onboard the vessel at any time that have been categorised into work centres and still reporting to the Chief Engineer, being ETO (Power), ETO (Electronic) and ETO (Science/Deck). Also note that the vessel may carry an ETO Cadet or Marine Electricians to support training as well onboard maintenance/defect rectification etc.

• VTrials - Nuyina - Marine Science Trials Voyage: 15/09/24 to 03/10/24
• V1 - Nuyina - Davis Over Ice Resupply, Refuel and Personnel Changeover: 04/10/24 to 17/11/24
• Maintenance Period: 18/11/2024 to 05/12/2024
• V2 - Nuyina - Casey Refuel, Davis summer retrieval, Mawson Resupply, Refuel & Changeover: 06/12/24 to 19/02/25
• V3 - Nuyina - Denman Glacier Marine Science Campaign: 20/02/25 to 02/05/25
• V4 - Macquarie Island Resupply, Refuel and Personnel Changeover: 03/05/25 to 05/06/25

• The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
• Certified ETO under Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) III/6
• Electro‐Technical Officers (III/6) with a Maritime New Zealand Certificate of Competency and ability to obtain an AMSA ETO Certificate of Proficiency
• Security Awareness Training
• Extensive experience working on commercial or naval ships
• Ability to obtain AMSA Certificate of medical fitness
• Ability to undergo an AAD Polar Medical Examination
• Qualified electrical practitioner (Electrician) with an Australian A Grade Electrical Licence (Desired)
• Energetic Positioning Maintenance Training Certificate (Desired)
