About the Team

Central to the UTS experience and located at the heart of the city campus in one of the world's top young universities, we provide welcoming spaces and services for students and staff to discover and share knowledge, and to learn and explore together. About the Role

The Director, Experience and Quality provides strategic leadership across client services, user experience, and operations and quality within the University Library. The role is central to delivering seamless digital and physical library experiences and strengthening operational excellence aligned to University and Library priorities.

Role responsibilities include:

* Provide strategic leadership across Client Services and Access, User Experience, and Operations and Quality portfolios.
* Oversee delivery and continuous improvement of digital and physical frontline library services.
* Lead innovation, quality management, and performance improvement using data, benchmarks, and indicators.
* Contribute to Library and University strategy through advice, planning, and review of initiatives and proposals.
* Oversee core business functions including budget planning, workforce planning, risk management, and professional development.
* Build and develop high‐performing teams and a collaborative, client‐centred culture.
* Represent and advocate for the Library internally and externally, including deputising for the University Librarian as required.

About You

Skills, attributes and knowledge

* Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills across face‐to‐face and online environments.
* Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and influencing capability.
* High‐level operational, programme, and quality management skills.
* Ability to conceptualise, develop, and review policies, processes, and systems at a corporate level.
* Advanced knowledge of library services in a tertiary education context.
* Strong understanding of university finances, budgets, and the regulatory environment.
* Proactive approach to lifelong learning and staff development.

Experience

* Experience leading cross‐institutional initiatives and managing complex portfolios.
* Demonstrated application of UX/CX, programme, and/or quality management in a library context.
* Senior‐level strategic leadership experience managing diverse functions, projects, and resources.
* Experience representing a library within senior executive and sector environments.

Qualifications

Postgraduate qualification with extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

What We Offer

Base Salary Range: SSG2 plus 17% superannuation (pension)

The position is full time and will be made on a continuing basis.
