Meredith Dairy, manufacturers of farmhouse goat and sheep milk cheeses and yoghurt, sources goat milk from 4 suppliers with the main milk supply managed by Meredith Goat Farmers, with Glenspean providing the supply of sheep milk to Meredith Dairy.
Sheep and Goat Dairying are emerging industries in Australia for which optimum health and production management practices are still being developed. Meredith Goat Farmers thus require specific expertise in small ruminant health and reproduction to manage these aspects on a day to day basis and participate in the Research and Development program at Meredith Goat Farmers, which aims to optimize health, reproduction and nutrition in Dairy Sheep and Goats.

Meredith Goat Farmers, are looking for someone who is passionate about dairy with a love of the animals and farm work who sees themselves in a leadership position, conscious and able to carry out all duties safely and efficiently.
To be successful in your application you will need to demonstrate that you are a team player, able to motivate and lead a team and have a continuous improvement outlook.
The below tasks are representative of the scope of operations: training is provided however; the successful applicant will have at a relevant qualification or at least 3 years' relevant experience with solid and demonstrated ability of the skills and knowledge to work at the expected level and perform within this role competently.
Tasks include:
Supervise work routines and staff performance of less experienced employees.
Contribute to planning all aspects of milk production processes including management and coordination of milking shed routines
Manage the feeding of a total mix ration.
Kid rearing/feeding, including tubing colostrum.
Assist in controlled breeding and carry out controlled breeding programs
Implement kidding procedures, including the ability to physically conduct unsupervised internal assessment to minimise the incident of still births or injuries to kids
Supervise animal health programs, handle sick or injured animals and maintain an optimal environment for the wellbeing of livestock consistent with the Australian Animal welfare standards and guidelines
Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures, ensuring compliance and that all relevant documentation is kept current, including ensuring the integrity of the identification system.
Operate milking plant and equipment in a safe manner undertake multiple functions including reading and recording instrument information
Identify and report equipment not operating normally, monitor and perform maintenance of plant and machinery
Transport stock, feed and equipment when required
Maintain records to ensure accurate information for stock and inventory control
Ensure food safety regulatory requirements are met
Coordinate the response to emergencies for OHS and animal welfare, particularly as part of the fire plan
Applicants must be available to work regular rotating weekends.
