Senior Executive Officer

About this opportunity
This role is a new opportunity at Council, overseeing our response to the Longwood Bushfire January 2026 event. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of the Murrindindi Shire Fire Recovery Plan, in collaboration with internal departments of Council and a variety of government and community organisations. You will be valued for experience in emergency management and response, community development or similar.
In this role you will:
* Advocate strategically for optimal outcomes for the fire affected communities
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organisations, committees, and government stakeholders
* Respond to the needs and feedback of community with a compassionate, empathetic, and strengths-based approach
* Coordinate Council's recovery process, through the development and implementation of the Murrindindi Shire Fire Recovery Plan
* Act as a focal point for grant funding requirements, ensuring reporting and acquittal requirements are met.
What will you bring
By joining our team, ideally you will have:
* Relevant qualifications and demonstrated experience in Emergency, Recovery, Community Development, or similar relevant discipline.
* Extensive experience in a management role/s in a related field.
* Proven capacity to deliver innovative programs, projects, initiatives and/or services to the benefit of the community, ideally in a recovery role.
* Interpersonal skills that demonstrate ability to build sustained relationships across stakeholder groups including community and government organisations.
* Proven strong communication, financial, reporting and resource management skills.
* Demonstrable problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking and sound judgement balancing Council, funding provider and community needs.
* Strong customer service focus and demonstrated ability to provide responsive, accurate and informative advice.
