Musician (Percussion/Drums) – Band of the South Australia Police. Full-time, permanent position within the Band of the South Australia Police.

Salary: $83,398–$102,491 per year plus 10% shift allowance. Probationary Constable appointment with potential permanent appointment after 12 months.
Responsibilities
* Perform as a percussionist/drummer on tuned percussion, auxiliary percussion, marching percussion, and drum kit.
* Perform and march as part of the Parade Band; learn and memorise marches for ceremonial parades.
* Join the Concert Band and participate in other ensembles as required; travel with band duties as needed.
* Demonstrate leadership, cultural sensitivity, professional image, and high standards of personal deportment, fitness, and resilience.
* Adhere to marching drill and ceremonial procedures; present a professional image when engaging with the community.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Professional musician with primary instrument(s) at a professional standard.
* Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel regionally, interstate, and overseas as required; travel and meal allowances apply.
* Ability to memorise marches for ceremonial duties; ability to perform in all weather conditions.
* Proficiency in all listed percussion categories and adaptability to perform across ensembles.
Salary and Benefits
* $83,398 per annum during 12-month probation period; $86,125 per annum on permanent appointment, rising to $102,491 over 7 annual increments.
* 10% shift allowance on all hours worked in lieu of penalty payments for specific shifts.
* Six weeks of annual leave with 20% leave loading; other police industrial entitlements apply.
* Probationary period of 12 months (Police Act 1998).
Auditions and Selection
* Applicants must provide a high-quality recording (5–10 minutes) demonstrating performance on tuned percussion, snare drum, and drum kit; copies of sheet music to be submitted.
* Auditions are proposed for 29 June to 1 July 2026 at the SAPOL Band Facility, Gepps Cross, South Australia.
* Musicians must be Australian or New Zealand citizens, or hold Australian permanent residency to join SA Police.
* Probity and medical assessments (including psychological/psychiatric) are part of recruitment; flexible working arrangements may be available.
Travel and Duties
* Band personnel are shift workers, with duties in evenings and weekends as required.
* Regular travel to regional South Australia; potential interstate or overseas travel as necessary; travel allowances apply.
