Join the Team at North Tasmanian Pathology Services (NTPS). NTPS is the sole public pathology provider in Northern Tasmania, delivering essential diagnostic services to the Launceston General Hospital and surrounding regions. We provide high-quality, accessible pathology services to general practitioners, specialists, and private hospitals, ensuring patients face no out-of-pocket expenses for Medicare-eligible tests. Our team includes pathologists, multidisciplinary scientists, and skilled technicians supporting the Tasmanian community.
Role Type and Requirements
Role Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 76 hours per fortnight (with flexibility to negotiate)
Start Date: As soon as possible
This selection process may be used to fill future full-time or part-time vacancies over the next 12 months.
Salary and Benefits
This position offers a competitive remuneration package in line with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022, including:
- Salary: The remuneration package for this position, based on classification as a Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 9, starts at $484,000 per annum, with potential for higher earnings in accordance with the current Specialist Medical Practitioner Award (Tasmania).
- Access to the Senior Specialist salary range ($300,216 – $310,389) is subject to meeting the eligibility criteria in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum
- Relocation and commencement support up to $15,000 for approved appointees
- Participation in Private Practice Scheme 35% or allowance in lieu of private practice schemes 35%
- Salary packaging options including living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment per year
- Fitness Passport – 40+ facilities across Tasmania for a nominal weekly fee
Other allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available.
Essential criteria:
- Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
- Registration/licences must be current and valid at all times; status may be checked during employment
Desirable criteria:
- Experience in Cytopathology procedures
The following checks may be conducted as part of pre-employment: Conviction checks for crimes of violence, sex offences, responsible drug offences, crimes involving dishonesty, and disciplinary action in previous employment.
Note: Graduates from RCPA awaiting final examination results are encouraged to apply.
