**Your recent role**
- The Deputy Zone Commander role is both operational and strategic in nature. Utilising your strong skills and experience in supporting operational activity, this role will work with a Zone management team, managing and leading volunteer across Units and Clusters to ensure the readiness to respond to operational activity and emergencies. The role will be responsible for establishing and maintaining key relationships both internally and externally such as other emergency service agencies, councils and local communities.
- The role will also work with other functional areas of the SES including the Capability & Training and the Volunteer Engagement teams to ensure the Units’ workforce of volunteers are recruited, trained and are prepared to respond to emergencies.
- The Deputy Zone Commander may act as Operations Commander or may be appointed as an Incident Controller. The role requires participation in operational activity, including on-call rosters during operational activity. Travel will be required in this role to visit Units across the Zones of responsibility and deployment to other Zones during operational activity.
**What you'll need to succeed**

- experience in providing leadership across diverse stakeholder groups in various geographic locations;
- the ability to build and maintain sustainable, collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- experience in emergency management and incident management
- a passion for serving the community through emergency management
- dedication to support and work with a diverse workforce of volunteers across NSW SES Units supporting their communities;
- ability to be involved in travel and work out-of-hours as required.
