Research Support Officer (Records Archivist) — APS5 EquivalentRate Guide$75 – $100 per hourLocation of WorkACT, QLD, VIC, NSW, SAContract DurationStart date to 30 June 2026ExtensionsNot applicableStart Date20 April 2026 (estimated)Maximum HoursUp to 40 hours per weekSecurity ClearanceMust hold Baseline clearance or be re-instatableWorking ArrangementsHybrid working conditions currently available.Job DetailsWe are seeking Research Support Officers (Records Archivists) to support information and records management activities within a Commonwealth environment.The role focuses on the review, classification, sentencing, and disposal of records in accordance with the Archives Act 1983, whole-of-government information management policies, and agency standards.Successful candidates will work closely with information and records management teams to ensure records are appropriately classified, retained, and disposed of using Content Manager (TRIM) and Microsoft 365.This role suits professionals with experience in digital records management, archival processes, and government compliance frameworks.Key ResponsibilitiesReview digital and physical records to ensure they are appropriately classified and sentenced in accordance with approved Records AuthoritiesApply classification and sentencing to digital files using Content Manager (TRIM) and Microsoft 365Identify records that have reached or exceeded their retention periodPrepare records for disposal, including documentation and approvals required under legislation and policyConduct disposal activities in accordance with authorised disposal schedules and proceduresMaintain accurate documentation and records of disposal activities undertakenCollaborate with the Information and Records Management team to ensure consistent information management practicesProvide guidance to business areas regarding records classification, retention, and sentencing requirementsContribute to the improvement of records and information management processes and documentationSupport audits, compliance reviews, and reporting related to records management activitiesEssential CriteriaDemonstrated experience in records or archives management in a digital environmentKnowledge of the Archives Act 1983 and Australian Government records management requirementsExperience applying records classification and sentencing using approved disposal authoritiesExperience using Content Manager (TRIM)Ability to work collaboratively within a team environmentAdditional RequirementsCandidates must hold a current Baseline security clearance or be re-instatableCandidates must provide a one-page pitch (maximum 5000 characters) addressing all essential criteria.
