About the role
Reporting to the Head of Legal, this senior integrated legal role offers the opportunity to work within MM Legal while also providing strategic in‑house legal support to Mutual Marketplace.
Core responsibilities
Within MM Legal you will:
* Deliver practical commercial advice to MM Legal clients (particularly in financial services / mutuals)
* Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to the development of MM Legal offerings and precedents
* Support growth initiatives, new service models and continuous improvement of the incorporated practice
Within Mutual Marketplace you will:
* Provide in‑house legal advice across commercial, regulatory and governance matters
* Work closely with the business as a trusted adviser
* Support risk‑aware decision‑making projects and strategic initiatives
Skills and experience
We are looking for a highly motivated legal professional with the following experience:
* Minimum six years in commercial and contract law; a PAE in commercial and contract law is required
* Unrestricted practising certificate or eligibility to obtain one
* Experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and associated documents
* Strong communication skills and the natural ability to speak with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior executives and workplace colleagues
* Experience successfully managing stakeholders and their needs
* Strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise tasks and identify commercial risk
Preferred:
* Experience in the banking, finance or superannuation sector will be viewed favourably
