About the role
The Safety & Wellbeing Partner supports a safe, healthy and compliant work environment across Far North Queensland. Working closely with leaders and frontline teams, the role provides practical, expert safety and wellbeing advice to reduce risk, ensure legislative compliance and strengthen safety culture. This is a full‑time permanent position that is predominantly site‑based, with travel to FNQ sites a minimum of three days per week, flexibility to work from home on the remaining days, and occasional travel to Brisbane or interstate for group meetings.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner with leaders and teams to deliver practical safety and wellbeing advice that supports daily operations and best practice.
* Analyse safety data, incidents and trends to identify risks, root causes and improvement opportunities.
* Lead and support incident reviews and investigations, ensuring effective corrective and preventative actions.
* Conduct workplace audits, risk assessments and hazard identification to reduce risk and improve compliance.
* Support the implementation and continuous improvement of safety systems, policies, procedures and training.
* Promote a positive safety and wellbeing culture through engagement with committees, representatives and regulators.
What you’ll bring
* Qualification in Work Health & Safety (Cert IV, Diploma or equivalent experience) with strong knowledge of WHS legislation and standards.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a health, safety or wellbeing role within operational or service‑based environments.
* Proven experience in incident management, investigations, risk assessments and using data to drive safety improvements.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence through clear, professional communication.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing operational and project priorities.
* Confident use of digital tools, including Microsoft Office and safety or incident management systems.
