About the role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to provide technical support and design services for mobile equipment, delivery systems, and fixed plant installations. Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will ensure compliance with Orica's standards and regulatory requirements while driving safety, innovation, and operational excellence.
This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, contribute to mechanical governance, and support capital works across the region. You'll collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver cost-effective, high-quality engineering solutions.
What you will be doing
* Leading by example in safety execution and uphold Orica's SH&E standards.
* Providing mechanical engineering support for capital projects and existing assets.
* Ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory standards (MPU, AEMSC, AS2187, AEISG).
* Engaging and managing design resources to execute works efficiently.
* Participating in design reviews, hazard studies, and audits.
* Preparing mechanical design estimates and managing drafting resources.
* Driving business improvement initiatives and supporting regional engineering and Capex planning.
* Executing commissioning and handover of projects and modified assets.
What you will bring
* Degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.
* A minimum 5 years' professional engineering experience.
* Knowledge of statutory requirements and engineering theory across disciplines.
* Experience in project management and managing small teams.
* RPEQ accreditation preferred (or willingness to work towards it).
* Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and innovation.
* Ability to build trust, demonstrate integrity, and work collaboratively.
